Sacred Paths: Chapter 1 | Journey to Madinah, The Red Sea & Our Final Reflections in Jeddah (Vlog 3)
As our time in Jeddah comes to a close, our hearts are full. In this third Sacred Paths vlog, we prepare to journey to Madinah an-Nabiyy (The City of the Prophet ﷺ) — also lovingly known as Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah (The Enlightened City). But before leaving, we pause to reflect on everything Allah allowed us to experience during our final days by the Red Sea. After several spiritually rich days in Makkah, our Sacred Sojourners had wo intentional wellness days to themselves — opportunities to slow down, rest, reflect, and simply receive. Sometimes the greatest act of worship is allowing ourselves the space to be restored. One of the highlights of our stay was exploring the historic district of Al Balad, where we learned about Jeddah’s remarkable architecture, its centuries-old buildings, and its significance as the historic gateway for pilgrims traveling to Makkah and Madinah. We also spent time reflecting on something many of us had never fully appreciated before: the Red Sea. For Muslims, the Red Sea is far more than a beautiful body of water. It is woven throughout our sacred history. It was across these waters that some of the earliest Muslims sought refuge in Abyssinia during the first migration of Islam. It is this same Red Sea that Allah parted for Prophet Musa (ʿalayhis-salam), delivering the Children of Israel from oppression. It also reminds us of the story of Prophet Yunus (ʿalayhis-salam), whose remarkable journey unfolded inside the same waters ... in the belly of a big fish ... by Allah’s decree. Standing along its shores gave these stories a new depth and reality that books alone could never fully convey. Our final Morning Reflections in Jeddah became a beautiful conclusion to this chapter of the journey, ending with the sisters wading into the Red Sea together — a beautiful moment of gratitude, joy, healing, and remembrance before setting our hearts toward Madinah. We pray this vlog offers you not only a glimpse into our journey, but also a deeper appreciation for the sacred history that surrounds these blessed lands. May Allah grant us all the opportunity to walk these Sacred Paths with hearts filled with faith, gratitude, and remembrance. Ameen.
