Dorma is unwell and has to be looked after. It is established that, when Dorma is sick with a fever, her dreams may become real, come to life, around her. So, as long as Dorma is asleep and unwell, someone has to stay close by her side and – if anything strange begins to happen – gently wake her up and interrupt the dream. The girls and Marlene have all, dutifully, taken turns at Dorma’s bedside and, so far, nothing strange or sinister has happened. And now it is Rooney’s turn to sit by Dorma’s bedside. She kicks her soccer ball around the dormitory and accidentally smashes something. She is bored and she is cross about having to sit, quietly, indoors on such a lovely day. She begins to justify her subsequent actions – talking them through with Dorma (who is asleep) as if she is awake. Nothing even slightly bad has happened so far… and Dorma seems to be getting better… so it’s OK for Rooney to leave the room for a while, Right? Sure! Why not? Who is going to know? So now Rooney clones herself – so it, at least, LOOKS like she is doing her duty – and she goes outside to practise her soccer. Princesses from different magical lands all come to study at the Wondermont School of Magic, under the watchful eye of the Immortal and the Professor (a scholarly cat). Each princess has her own magical power, which she will gradually learn to control. The princesses learn magical wisdom and practice how to use magical items. The School is full of strange and mysterious things. Literally anything you find in it could have extraordinary properties, and the museum in the basement is absolutely full of mystifying artefacts.
