El Palo beach stretches for more than a kilometer from Pedregalejo to the Gálica stream. One of the most unique bars is El Tintero, where the waiters announce the freshly cooked dishes, further impregnating the atmosphere with the smell of the sea. You will also find many other traditional establishments in this area. Any of them will be a safe choice. One of the most special nights is that of June 23, the eve of San Juan, in which the residents of El Palo go to the beach to receive the summer. Tonight it is a tradition to bathe in the sea at midnight and light bonfires that lead to the burning of the "júas", dolls made of rags and other materials. Around July 16, the Marine and Sports Festivals of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of fishermen, arrive. If you have the opportunity to visit Malaga on these dates you cannot miss the sea-land procession of the image. After touring the streets of the neighborhood, the one also known as Star of the Seas is paraded aboard a jábega, an impressive sight. Other notable events on the El Palo calendar are the El Palo Flamenco Festival, also in July, and the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Festival.
