Constructability of Top – Down Construction Methods
Presented By: Eamonn Connolly, James McHugh Construction Co. Description: The rapid project completion of the huge new McDonald’s Global Headquarters in Chicago required innovation and collaboration with all team partners. This 9-story, 770,000 sf office structure was constructed using a “top-down” construction method to accelerate the project schedule and completed construction in just 18 months. This presentation will give a project overview of the numerous engineering design and construction challenges and solutions including deep foundations, secant pile ERS, top down construction, reinforced concrete flat slab, fast cycle construction, construction engineering & logistics.
