Maa Durga created a goddess to slay the Chanda and Munda demons. After killing these two demons, the goddess was called Chamunda Devi. There are many stories related to this temple. According to the legends, this temple was built in the 16th century when Lord Chamunda appeared in a priest's dream. and told the place where the idol of the goddess was. After this the priest told this to the king and then the king sent his soldiers and recovered the idol. and established the place where this temple is now built. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the lower side of the Chamunda Devi temple, which is called Nandikeshwar Mahadev's temple. Chamunda Devi Temple is believed to be the abode of Shiva and Shakti. That's why it's called Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham. On the lower side of the temple, grand idols of many gods and goddesses have been made.
