There are wounds that go unseen: they make no noise, but they influence how we live, how we see ourselves… and even how we approach God. Among them, one affects far more people than we imagine: shame. Shame says much more than, “I did something wrong.” It cries out, “I’m worthless.” Little by little, it imprisons us, pushes us to compare ourselves to others, to hide, to believe we will never measure up. Yet, this is not God’s plan for our lives. From the very first pages of the Bible to the cross, God does not seek to humiliate us, but to lift us up. In Jesus, he does not simply cover our shame: he comes to free us from it so that we may rediscover our true identity.
