Using yellows to paint a realistic lemon and not make muddy mixes

In this short tutorial, I'm going to show you how easy it is to paint a lemon in watercolor, using transparent, staining colors. One of the amazing parts about it is that we are only using 3 colors. That's right. You don't need a lot of different colors to get the right hues and values needed to paint a realistic lemon in watercolor. The important part is learning how much water to paint ratio you need, and how to layer washes for smooth transitions from the darker values to the lightest parts. Yellows can be a little tricky to get the right combo of colors, but in this tutorial, you'll see how I adjust the colors by using more or less water in my paint and how to add just a little touch of pink to get a subtle color change to make the darker side of the lemon have the right shape to look round and realistic.
