Bentley Audio Upgrade and Subwoofer Vibration Fix

Vibrating speakers in a Bentley? You wouldn’t think so but actually most owners with the Naim Audio System complain about the vibration and rattle from the subwoofer, its just under the rear shelf and doesn’t vent into the cabin at all, it fires almost directly into the under side of the rear shelf. We took this Bentley in to sort out the bass and to upgrade the audio system. We ended up scrapping the factory subwoofer completely and adding a JL Audio TW3 10” Sub that was vented between the rear seats via a custom grill. We managed to grab the audio output from the factory head unit before it got to the Naim amplifier and feed the signal into the JL Audio VXI600/6, this is a 6 x 100w class D amplifier with an inbuilt DSP. This drives the front end actively which consisted of Hertz Mille Legend 2 way components, the tweeters where set into custom A Pillars to get them on axis, the Midbass where fitted in the OEM location on new baffles with significant acoustic work carried out in the doors. The JL Audio subwoofer was driven from a XD600/1 amplifier and this produced some serious bass output. The result was epic, incredible sound quality, detailed, accurate and well balanced, the quiet ride of the Bentley meant very little adjustment of the system balance was necessary when traveling even at speed.
