[Scenery of the intersection] Visited in July 2027 Kokura Station is a large terminal station served by the JR Kyushu Kagoshima Main Line, the Nippo Main Line, the JR West Sanyo Shinkansen, and the Kitakyushu Monorail. The Kagoshima Main Line is a quadruple track with separate freight and passengers, while the others are double tracked. The quadruple track Kagoshima Main Line is divided into three lines in the freight station Higashi-Kokura Station, east of Kokura Station, and is handled by an intersection so as not to interfere with the operation of each line. The Sanyo Shinkansen crosses over these intersections in one go. The section between Moji and Higashi-Kokura is a quadruple track with separate freight and passengers, but from within Higashi-Kokura Station, it is divided into the Kagoshima Passenger Line, Kagoshima Freight Line, and Nippo Main Line. At the point where they are divided, from the left side facing down, the Kagoshima passenger line down, the Nippo line down, the Kagoshima freight line down, the Kagoshima freight line up, the Nippo line up, and the Kagoshima passenger line up are wired by direction, but at Kokura Station, the wires change to separate tracks, with the Nippo line up and down, Kagoshima passenger line up and down, and Kagoshima freight line up and down. Therefore, at point [1], the Nippo line up and down and the Kagoshima passenger line down cross, and at point [2], the Nippo line up, the Kagoshima passenger line up, and the Kagoshima freight line up and down cross. Furthermore, the Sanyo Shinkansen crosses over these tracks from the mountain side to the sea side in one go, creating a grade-separated intersection.
