Toronto's "Little Mexico"? We try 5 of Kensington Market's best Tacos - Gus, Tacos 101, El Trompo!

This week, we’re heading to one of Toronto’s most iconic food neighbourhoods for a Kensington Market taco crawl. After trying some incredible tacos on Eglinton recently, we wanted to see what one of Toronto’s best-known food districts had to offer — so we made our way through Kensington Market to try five different taco spots, from longtime neighbourhood staples to newer favourites. In this video, we visit: Taqueria El Pastorcito — starting with al pastor tacos from a spot built around the pastor tradition. El Trompo — one of Kensington Market’s classic Mexican restaurants, where we try chorizo tacos. Birria Catrina — a birria-focused stop that helped bring crispy, cheesy, consommé-dipped tacos into Toronto’s food conversation. Tacos 101 — a downtown taco favourite that found a new home in Kensington Market, where we compare another take on al pastor. Gus Tacos — one of Toronto’s most recognizable taco names, where we finish with Baja-style fish tacos. Kensington Market has always been one of Toronto’s great immigrant neighbourhoods, shaped by Jewish, Caribbean, Latin American, Asian, and many other communities over the years. Today, it remains one of the city’s most exciting places to eat — especially if you’re looking for Mexican and Latin food in Toronto.
