Taking the New Toyota Land Cruiser to the Alps

2,500 Miles. 5 Countries. One New Land Cruiser. We start this epic European road trip at the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle Terminal in Folkestone, cross into France and head for Nancy — the first stop on what becomes an unforgettable journey across the continent. From there, things get serious. We push on toward the Swiss Alps, carving our way through Andermatt and some of the most breathtaking mountain passes in Europe. Snow begins to fall, temperatures drop, and it’s the perfect opportunity to properly test the Land Cruiser’s 4WD system in real winter conditions. This is where you find out what a car is really made of. One of the highlights? Boarding the legendary Furka Tunnel Car Transport Train — a surreal experience driving the car straight onto a train through the mountains before emerging back into Alpine roads. From the snow-covered peaks of Switzerland, we descend to the palm-lined shores of Lake Como for a well-earned pizza stop — because no proper European road trip skips Italy. Then it’s south to Monaco for some serious supercar spotting in the world’s most glamorous playground. This trip isn’t just about the destination — it’s about the journey. Yes, flying would be cheaper. Yes, it would be faster. But a road trip lets you experience Europe. The landscapes change. The culture shifts. The weather turns. The car becomes part of the story. And over 2,500 miles, you see far more than you ever would from 30,000 feet. If you love driving, adventure, and making memories behind the wheel — this one’s for you.
