If You Don’t Raise Your Children, Someone Else Will
Diaspora Parents: Who Is Raising Your Children? Many African parents moved abroad in search of better opportunities, better schools, safer communities, and a brighter future for their families. But in the pursuit of financial success, are we spending enough time raising the very children we’re working so hard for? In this video, I discuss a difficult but important topic: parental responsibility, youth behaviour, gang culture, knife crime, social media influence, and the growing disconnect between some parents and their children. This conversation is not about blaming parents. Life abroad is expensive, and many families are doing their best. However, children need more than money. They need guidance, discipline, values, boundaries, and parental presence. We will discuss: ✔ Why parental involvement matters more than ever ✔ The dangers of leaving children to be raised by social media and peer pressure ✔ Gang culture and youth violence ✔ The importance of teaching values, discipline, and responsibility ✔ What immigrant parents should teach their children about citizenship and belonging ✔ The impact of conversations children hear at home ✔ Why character is more important than financial success If we don’t intentionally raise our children, someone else will influence them—and we may not like the results. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Do you think modern parents are spending enough time with their children? Please like, share, and subscribe if you enjoy these discussions about diaspora life, parenting, migration, culture, and the future of African families abroad. #DiasporaParents #AfricanDiaspora #Parenting #Immigration #FamilyValues #YouthCrime #AfricanParents #DiasporaLife
