Florence Hodges, 93, of Dothan, Alabama on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show (Sep 27 1989)
The best thing about Johnny Carson was his never forgetting his roots. He loved having perfectly ordinary middle Americans frequent his Tonight Show, and treated each of them as reverently as his famous celebrity guests. This particular spot from September 27, 1989 featured a quick-witted 93 year old who volunteered 8 hours per day, 7 days per week at a local hospital. (Perhaps one of her 56 mentioned grandchildren and great grandchildren will find this now long-forgotten Tonight Show appearance here on Youtube.)
