E39 BMW Headliner Re-Wrap (Part 4 of 4)

Admittedly, this has been the most frustrating and tedious car project I have ever undertaken. I would rather install a set of headers than do this again; but I was very happy when it was all said and done. Not only was it very annoying to remove all the parts needed to get to the head liner, but actually wrapping the head liner. The BMW headliner isn't anything special; it is just a felt like fabric with a foam backing. For some reason, the E39 headliner is prone to detaching from the foam as it degrades. You must use a headliner specific adhesive when doing the re-wrapping. I needed two full cans to do all the pieces required for the E39. Applying the fabric to the board was the worst part as you really only got one shot at it or it would be ruined. A helper is definitely a must. The 540i looked almost brand new by the time I was done refreshing the interior. While this was a very unpleasant experience, it was worth it in the end. Subscribe! Comment! Connect!
