Nicholas 'Nico' Roche interview – new bike, aero tuck, diet of a pro cyclist, season 2021 (Team DSM)

Now in his 17th season as a pro cyclist, Nicholas ‘Nico’ Roche has a wealth of experience. He was born into the cycling life and eventually came to bike racing as a career. In 2021 he is 36 and part of Team DSM (formerly Team Sunweb) for a third year. We caught up with the affable Irishman while he was away from his Monaco home, at a training camp on the Canary Islands along with team-mate Roman Kreuziger. In a long interview, we cover a few of the basics for a pro cyclist interview including discussion about his new Scott bike, what he expects from the season, and touch on a range of other topics. His explanation about the aero tuck rule – introduced in 2021 – is worth listening to (spoiler alert, he agrees the new regulations needed to happen).
