Hyatt Centric Beach House - Panoramic Ocean Front Suite review in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

I love the riviera maya and I’ve been many times. That said, I’d never taken the time to come and visit the actual “city” area of playa del carmen (as it is hard to justify leaving whatever resort you’re at). I mostly only went to the touristy areas (eg the main fifth street and beach area + a few blocks here/there), but I enjoyed it. There was some solid food and good shopping options all over. I’m not sure I’d rush back to the city but if I did, I’d have no problem staying in this hotel room again. It’s pretty solid… great location and the heated outdoor hot tub was really convenient (as it got chilly at night, especially with the wind). The hot tub didn’t get thaaat hot but it was nice enough for me. Room was comfortable, but it wasn’t particularly elevated and had things a 5* wouldn’t typically lack (lack of mini bar, a few dead bugs in shower/bath area, no fan despite my request). There was also no real “service” (no one helped with bags or provided any service at all beyond check in/out and calling taxi). But for one night with plans of seeing the PDC city, I’d recommend it. Otherwise, I’d mostly just plan to stay in the nearby resorts here in the riviera maya / Cancun / tulum area (such as Esencia, St Regis, Banyan Tree, Rosewood, Palmaia, CDLP, etc).
