Day 1 – 2026 Specialized Positive Peace Training Workshop

ABOUT COURSE: This was a 2026 Specialized Positive Peace Training Workshop for Rotarians and Rotaractors, focusing on building capacity to address peace and conflict issues at the grassroots level. The first module was led by Rotarian Emeka Ilebunam, who introduced the concept of positive peace versus negative peace, explaining that positive peace requires attitudes, institutions, and structures that create sustainable human development and equity. He outlined the eight pillars of positive peace including well-functioning government, equitable resource distribution, acceptance of others' rights, good relations with neighbors, free flow of information, high human capital, and low corruption levels. The second module was presented by Master Dicks Mfune, on community needs assessment, though technical difficulties with the presentation slides were experienced during his session. The training was recorded and participants were encouraged to implement practical peace-building projects in their communities based on the eight pillars discussed.
