Join me on a winter flight from Vladivostok to Krasnoyarsk aboard Aurora Airlines, a stylish regional carrier from Russia’s Far East. Although the ticket was issued by Aeroflot, the flight itself was operated by Aurora on an Airbus A319, continuing on from Khabarovsk to Sheremetyevo. The video begins in a taxi en route to Vladivostok Airport. For early flights, public transportation is not an option — I took a taxi, which cost 2,200 RUB. After check-in and passing security, I visited the airport’s business lounge and spotted a familiar sign still forbidding photography — a rule that dates back to at least 2015. This time, however, no one objected to filming. On the ramp, I saw several aircraft: an Aeroflot Boeing 777 from Moscow, a Ural Airlines A320neo, a Rossiya Sukhoi Superjet from Shanghai, and a rare Russian Air Force Ilyushin Il-62M — the very one that once turned around mid-Atlantic with the Prime Minister onboard. After boarding, we passed two parked DHC-6-400s operated by Aurora and another Aurora A319 bound for Khabarovsk. Surprisingly, no one was stopping passengers from taking pictures — many captured the sunrise-lit aircraft with their phones. The cabin was clean and featured a mix of old and new Aeroflot Recaro economy seats. I prefer the older, thicker ones — they’re the most comfortable. After a quick taxi and takeoff, we flew north toward Khabarovsk, then turned west over Magdagachi and Skovorodino, and continued past Severobaikalsk and Bratsk en route to Krasnoyarsk. Aurora provided a full in-flight service with drinks and a hot breakfast. I picked the pancakes — ate them so fast I didn’t even notice the filling! Tea and coffee were offered multiple times. Upon arrival, I bought a bus ticket at the airport to Krasnoyarsk city — a transit stop for buses from Bogotol and Achinsk. The bus took me to the city’s central bus terminal, located at the site of the old Severny Airport. I explored the city a bit, visited Café Smith, and returned for my flight to Moscow. The return flight to Sheremetyevo was with Aeroflot, continuing from Khabarovsk via Krasnoyarsk. I noticed my return bus ticket cost more — likely due to an automatic insurance fee I didn’t catch. Krasnoyarsk Airport has limited apron views from the airside area — most space is occupied by retail.
