How Slavic Languages Actually Work
I'm a native Russian and Ukrainian speaker, I speak Croatian, and I have a linguistics degree — so I made this video to finally explain the logic behind Slavic languages. If you're learning Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Croatian, Serbian, Czech, Slovak, Bulgarian, or any other Slavic language — or you're just trying to figure out which Slavic language to learn first — this video breaks down exactly why these languages work the way they do: verb aspect, grammatical cases, word order, grammatical gender, verbs of motion, diminutives, and why Slavic languages can partly understand each other. Whether you're an English, Spanish, German, or Chinese speaker, I explain what will feel familiar to you and what will genuinely surprise you. I live in Croatia and I'm learning Croatian through real immersion — not textbooks — and I'll also drop links below to my videos on learning Croatian and my trip to Poland learning Polish. If this helped you understand Slavic languages a little better, subscribe — I'm documenting my whole multilingual journey here, living life in 6 languages.
