Guadeloupe MP Max Mathiasin questioned the Prime Minister about France's abstention at the UN on a resolution condemning the African slave trade as "the most serious crime against humanity." This blunder, to say the least, was extremely ill-timed. On Wednesday, April 1st, the government was questioned in the National Assembly about the UN vote on a resolution recognizing the African slave trade as "the most serious crime committed by humanity." The question was initially addressed to the Prime Minister. But the response came from Nicolas Forissier, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade. A cruel symbol indeed.
