29 comparecientes de fuerza pública, responsables de crímenes en Huila, postulados a Sanción Propia

The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) referred 29 retired members of the security forces to the Peace Tribunal. These individuals acknowledged their responsibility for 204 murders, illegitimately presented as combat casualties, including 35 cases of enforced disappearance, committed in Huila between 2005 and 2008. The Chamber for the Recognition of Truth and Responsibility concluded that the individuals who appeared before the JEP contributed to the truth, acknowledged their responsibility, and carried out restorative actions, including search campaigns for disappeared persons that have contributed to the recovery of 71 bodies, as well as memory initiatives developed in collaboration with the victims. Now, the Peace Tribunal must verify that the sentence protects the rights of the victims, provides legal certainty to the parties, and complies with national and international standards before imposing its own sanctions on the individuals who appeared before the JEP. ___ The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) is the judicial component of the Comprehensive System for Peace, created by the Final Peace Agreement signed by the National Government and the FARC-EP.
