Creating A Timeless Dining Room | Wainscoting, Accent Ceiling & DIY Decor Ideas

See how we completely transformed our dining room from a cluttered drop zone into a polished, elegant space! We started by clearing out the room and painting it in a beautiful two-tone scheme using Farrow & Ball’s light gray—lightening the top half of the wall by 50% for subtle contrast. We added classic chair rail and box trim for a custom wainscoting look that instantly elevated the space. In the existing tray ceiling, we carried the same paint color up top, added a ceiling medallion, and installed a budget-friendly bubble light fixture for charm and impact. To finish the room, we hung pleated off-white curtains, framed our Nest thermostat for a clever design hack, DIYed vintage-style paintings, and styled the dining table with antique brass candelabras and a fresh greenery centerpiece.
