PROGRAMA 36 - "Ferrocarril del Paraguay, estación por estación" - Capítulo 14
The Country Report we're producing this year, 2025, reviving images and reports from the program's early years and in the series "Railroad of Paraguay, Station by Station," needs to focus on those years, from '89 to '99, because it was a special decade. It can't be dismissed, especially because it shows us a country with cities and departments that are so poor. This phenomenon is happening to us as we enter Caazapá. And I've decided not to advance to the final stretch of the "Station by Station" series until I've exhausted the valuable archive that shows the social reality of the time. From this episode we aired, I'm left with the bitter taste of the lack of a usable route, with the train having disappeared. I'm left with the feeling of inaction when, in a report on the route that was supposed to be paved, which was done in 1999, they tell me that everything is ready for its construction. I was on the route when it was actually built, and it was around 2013 or 2014, during the administration of then-President Cartes. Almost 14 years passed until the route that would replace the railroad was completed. It's too long. Given the visual and historical richness I'm currently seeing in the archives of that region of the country, we must first show the past, leaving it for the generations to come, so that it will remain for eternity, and only then show the region today. Today, Caazapá emerged from its social and economic prostration. Given the visual and historical richness I'm currently seeing in the archives of that region of the country, we must first show the past, leaving it for the generations to come, so that it will remain for eternity, and only then show the region today. Today, Caazapá emerged from its social and economic prostration, although much remains to be done. That's why this program has been reprinted, even though some images are painful. Our country is beautiful, our people are valuable. Two international wars unbalanced our greatness; the department of Caazapá is unrecognizable today. Much progress has been made. But we will also continue to pause in the past to discover our reality today.
