SG50: Proclamation of Independence, National Anthem and Pledge
On 9 August 2015, Singapore celebrated 50 years of independence. To mark the occasion, Singapore's Founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s reading of the Proclamation of Singapore’s Independence was broadcast on TV and radio channels. The reading had been recorded in 2014, before Mr Lee’s passing in March 2015. The reading of the Proclamation was played at National Day Observance Ceremonies across the island. Following this, participants at the Observance Ceremonies sang the National Anthem and recited the National Pledge.
