MOTSEKI MOFOKENG - KADER ASMAL LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - 25TH ANNUAL NTA - 2025 SADTU Celebrates Free State Teacher Motseki Mofokeng for Winning Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement Award The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) congratulatee Comrade Motseki Mofokeng, a dedicated educator from the Union’s Moisi Makappa Branch in the Free State, for winning the Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th National Teaching Awards held in October 2025. Comrade Mofokeng, who teaches at Letlotlo Naledi Primary School, boasts an impressive 33 years of service in the teaching profession. Throughout his career, he has exemplified the spirit of selflessness and dedication that defined the late Professor Kader Asmal, after whom the award is named. In a remarkable display of commitment to education and community development, Mofokeng personally raised funds to build a school and even purchased a school bus and a taxi to ensure that learners in his community have access to education. His actions reflect SADTU’s vision of teachers as revolutionary professionals and champions of people’s education. Comrade Mofokeng is flanked by SADTU Site Steward Cadre Tonyane Matjele, Moisi Makapa Branch Gender Convenor Cadre Tankiso Moutsi, Northern Region Deputy Chairperson Mr. Thabo Mohloare, SGB Chairperson Cadre Ntsokolo Mtsolo, and Sports, Arts and Culture Convenor Cadre Sellwane Motaung, who all expressed pride in his achievement. SADTU hails Mofokeng as a revolutionary professional, agent of change, and a true embodiment of the Union’s values. His lifetime contribution to education continues to inspire fellow educators and communities across the province.
