Leveling, aerating, seeding, and rolling: We tested grassland combination harrows that perform all of this in a single pass, thus providing the grass with the highest level of care. The foundation for successful silage is laid in the spring, well before the actual harvest: Soil mounds left by moles and voles need to be distributed, overgrown material removed, and gaps filled with a light overseeding until harvest. We tested three grassland combination harrows that perform these steps in a single pass: • APV GP 600 M1 • Dal-Bo Maxiroll Greenline 630 • Güttler Greenmaster 640 Last spring, we used the harrows on a traditional grassland site in Lower Saxony. The numerous harrow suppliers on the market demonstrate that intensive sward care is gaining increasing attention in dairy farming regions. For our comparison, we deliberately chose machines with an additional roller to test this technology as well.
