We Bought a 125-Year-Old Swedish House — For Less Than a Car
We bought a 125-year-old Swedish house in the middle of nowhere — for less than the price of a used car. This is the beginning of a long, slow journey to bring it back to life. Welcome to the first episode of our renovation journey in rural Småland, southern Sweden. We're a German family who took the leap and bought a small property in the Swedish countryside, including a main house from the year 1900, a giant barn, a storehouse, and a tiny bird house — all needing serious work. The plan: turn it into a holiday home for our families and eventually rent it out as an Airbnb. In this first video, I'll walk you through the property, show you what was left behind by the previous owners, share our plans, and document the very first renovations we tackled — starting with the living room and bedroom. If you enjoy slow, honest renovation content with a touch of cinematic storytelling, hit subscribe — there's a lot more coming. New videos throughout the renovation, plus near-daily Shorts from the construction site. 🎬 CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 00:45 The Property 01:00 A Bit of History (Year 1900) 01:26 The Property Continued 02:00 What We Found 02:43 Our Plans for the Property 03:20 House Tour 04:45 Renovating the Living Room 06:48 Renovating the Bedroom 08:37 What's Coming Next ABOUT THIS SERIES We're documenting the full renovation of a traditional Swedish property from 1900, working with a tight budget and doing as much as possible ourselves.
