#5 Reescrever a própria identidade. “Depois do Fim, com Filipe Batista” convida Assucena
Assucena is one of the most relevant voices in contemporary Brazilian music, recognized for her career with As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira (later simply As Baías), a group with which she was nominated twice for a Latin Grammy. And, of course, for her beautiful solo career, marked by profound aesthetic and emotional research. Not only in music, as she is a complete artist and has expanded her talent to theater – even being nominated for the 2023 Shell Award for best actress. Her art began in college. Born in Vitória da Conquista (BA), she moved to São Paulo to study History and built a solid intellectual foundation at USP, with a background that is reflected in her songs. She also became a columnist for Vogue, articulating music, critical thinking, and performance as inseparable dimensions of her being. In this episode, we talk about the radical rewriting of her own history. From her childhood in the interior of Bahia to her move to São Paulo and her gender transition. #Assucena reflects on identity as an open work, on the end of inherited expectations, and on the courage to sustain desire. We talk about art, spirituality, family, affection, and that which can only be born when one accepts that every end carries within it the possibility of freedom.
