Whelen WS-2000-16 Siren SWA Activation | 1 Minute Fast Wail | Fort Wayne, IN | 3/12/24

Location: Georgetown Entertainment System: Allen County Test time: 1st Wednesday of the month at noon Enthusiasts present: Tommy (‪@buckeyenotifications‬) Last week, we decided to head over to Indiana for their statewide tornado drill. We were originally planning on doing Muncie since we had gotten word that they would be sounding their sirens for the drill, but after hearing that it was just going to be their typical 20 second test, we diverted to this 2000 in Fort Wayne. This one has a pre-864 cabinet, and it is the only siren in the system that does fast wail. I must say, this was a little louder than I was anticipating, but it still wasn't too loud. It was somewhat windy at this time, so the main shot does shake a bit at a few points in the video, but it's definitely not the worst wind I've dealt with at a siren. After this siren winds down, a few 2001s can be heard winding down, and if you listen closely, you might be able to make out a mystery Model 2 that continues for about 5 minutes after the other sirens shut off. I've looked at several different siren maps for both Allen County and Indiana as a whole, and I have not seen a Model 2 near this area marked on any of them. In person, it sounded like it was coming from the southwest. I have a suspicion that the Model 2 is owned by a factory or something like that, and runs separately from Allen County's system. I'll have to do some searching around to see what I can find, but if anyone knows anything about the Model 2 we heard, please let me know in the comments. Enjoy!
