Is This Normal Repair Work? - Is This Rotary Punch Worth The Cost? #leathercraft

I purchased this rotary leather punch and I am replacing a punch tube again. Is this normal wear or is the tool designed correct. I have stayed with this leather working tool partly because of the original cost $160 but mostly because I like the ease of use. All punch sizes are right there at my fingertips and it’s easy to use. I will continue using it at least until the next need of punch tubes. I am interested in hearing if there is a competitor rotary punch out there that maybe has punch tubes that are not as easy to chip. I try to be transparent in my selection of tools and supplies.
