Making a Kiln-Formed Vessel (my first!!)
I'm not sure I would recommend any of what I did here, but in case you want to know the details, here's what I can share. Glass: uncertain because it was part of an unmarked scrap lot that I purchased, but fairly confident it's orange and white streaky glass, #2123 (oh, and LOTS of clear Tekta) Stainless steel former and bottomless mold from Bonny Doon Fused Glass Tools Full fuse firing schedule: 300-1100-30 75-1225-90 600-1500-45 9999-900-180 (long anneal for thick slab!) 100-600-0 200-100-0 Drop schedule: (super slow because the garage was cold, glass was thick, and position was very close to lid elements) 50-250-0 75-600-0 100-1250-45 (I set it for 3 hours but knew I would watch and it skip to next segment and flash cool when the vase was in a good position. This was about 45 min) 9999-900-180 (long anneal again) 100-300-0 (slow, controlled cool down) 9999-100-0
