Highlights of J'Ouvert at Brooklyn, New York Carnival 2025. Part 2 of 2. J'Ouvert is French for "I open". It is the official start of carnival in the Caribbean. In Brooklyn, it is the early morning street party before the West Indian Day Parade on Labor Day, the official close of summer. In these 2 videos , I focus on the competition of the masquerade bands, i.e. the bands in costume. The event was started in New York City by immigrants from Trinidad.
