Housing the Homeless in Los Angeles
SPECIAL DELIVERY: While the homelessness crisis can seem daunting, there are thousands of success stories in our city. One of those stories comes from Alexis Lauro, a member of my staff who works in my San Pedro District office. Many of my staff work with homelessness policy, homelessness organizations, and even homeless people in our district. However, we are not case workers. My staff works at a different level than LAHSA caseworks. In order to ensure the system runs efficiently and smoothly, my staff often finds itself in the trenches and on the street - looking for ways to improve the system. What you see in this video is in no way any part of Alexis’ job description. Alexis’ only obligation in this video was to be an amazing Angeleno. Thank you Alexis for having a great heart and a great spirit for lending your professionalism to a homeless resident of our county and offering hope. This is how we solve homelessness….. #EveryoneIn. It must be in our collective spirit to want to offer a hand up.
