20-50-4 hat

For the Bulky users in the room - here is a super simple hat for you. I started with a simple pattern I created with Design a knit. I thought I used the correct tension swatch for the yarn I was using. But right off the start I had a feeling the pattern was "off." The best way to test a pattern is to jump in with both feet and just do it. Oh my goodness - so funny. The hat is too wide and too shallow for a 23 inch head. I make the changes to the pattern based on the result from the first try and we have a working pattern by the end of the hour. Each hat only takes 30 minutes. I edited out some of the transfers, but left in the mistakes and outtakes. For the record - this yarn is bulky, so a 5. The kh260 that I used, at tension 5, gave me a 22/23 inch hat with 20 rows for Brim (tension 3), 50 rows for body (tension 5), and 4 rows for the crown (EON tension 2) It is that Simple.
