Emocionante despedida de La Macarena de las calles de Albacete en la Semana Santa de 2014

Holy Week is beginning to draw to a close. This afternoon, several processions were held. One of them was that of "La Macarena," which visited the Cotolengo institution and later returned to its temple, that of the Franciscans. She arrived escorted by legionaries, who paid her farewell in Albacete until next year. At the Franciscans, the "Banda de Cornetas y Tambores de San Juan Evagelista" (Cornet and Drum Band of Saint John the Evangelist) was waiting to accompany her in this farewell, also paying her respects. "La Macarena" danced her goodbye, first pretending to return home but wanting to stay with the devotees. Then she turned to bid farewell to everyone present. This required a great effort from the costaleros, since the image weighs 1,800 kilos. Moments of emotion at the farewell, both for members of the brotherhood and the public. The brotherhood's band also wanted to bid farewell to the Virgin of Hope in a special way, kneeling on the ground. More than 2,000 Albacete residents attended this intense farewell. The traditional saeta (saeta) could not be missing from this farewell. Moments of great devotion and passion were experienced, as La Macarena bid farewell to the streets of Albacete until next Holy Week.
