It had been a long time since I'd last hiked the Micro-Trails. Winter had passed, and the trails were often quiet, almost empty… So I took advantage of a magnificent day on Saturday, May 23, 2026, to head back to the Pyrenees, starting from Les Granges d’Astau, towards Lac d’Oô, Lac d’Espingo, and then Lac Saussat. And in the end, this hike turned into a day of encounters. I met a group of friends who had come from Bordeaux to enjoy the mountains for a day. I met Valentine, the warden of the Espingo refuge, whom I sincerely thank for taking the time to answer my questions. Jules, 21, who is gradually discovering a real passion for the mountains. Craig, an Australian who fell in love with the Pyrenees and the Luchon region. And Michael, who dreams of one day climbing a peak over 3,000 meters.
