Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) reduces surface roughness to under 40 microinches or 15 microinches, depending on the application, resulting in a superior finish that enhances flow efficiency. It’s also significantly faster and more affordable than other finishing methods. HOW AFM WORKS • The automated AFM process uses an abrasive media that conforms exactly to the part’s internal shape, no matter how complex. • This media moves along the same route as your extrusion material, behaving like a flexible, abrasive putty and producing results similar to flowable 3D sandpaper.
