Just a few days ago, among the ruins of Vovchansk, Anton and his comrades were repelling enemy assaults. Now he is undergoing treatment after being wounded. For months, he managed to fight without serious injuries, but he was finally hit on his way out of a position. He says he still hasn’t adapted to seeing intact buildings around him and hearing birds sing. The conditions infantry faces in Vovchansk go far beyond human limits. Enemy positions are just a few meters away, above ground there isn’t a single building left intact, and under layers of concrete and asphalt lie fortifications and tunnels. Defending Ukraine since 2014 Grinding the occupiers in Vovchansk since 2024 The 34th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion “Wolfhounds” is a unit born of war. Formed in May 2014 as a volunteer formation, the 34th took up arms to defend Ukraine. Its core was made up of patriots from all over the country—motivated volunteers, peacekeeping veterans, and those who picked up a weapon for the first time. Already in July 2014, the battalion took part in the liberation of Toretsk, where our assault groups destroyed militant strongholds. Then came the defense of the approaches to Horlivka, the battles of Debaltseve, Zaitseve, Maiorsk, and Pisky. The unit held key lines and disrupted enemy offensives. After joining the 57th Motorized Brigade, it continued its combat path as part of Ukraine’s regular forces. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the battalion has held the line in Luhansk region, fought in the battles for Bakhmut, and today carries out missions in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region.
