Atmosphere at Garut Station Garut Station is located on Cimanuk Street, in Garut Kota District, Garut Regency, West Java. It serves as the terminus station of the Cibatu–Garut railway line, acting as the final stop for all trains arriving from Bandung. Garut Station was first opened on August 14, 1889, by Staatsspoorwegen, the Dutch East Indies railway company. Back then, it played a major role in Garut’s economy and tourism, especially as many European visitors traveled here to enjoy the cool air and natural beauty of the region. However, in 1983, the Cibatu–Garut line was officially closed due to declining passenger numbers. After nearly four decades of inactivity, Garut Station was revived and reopened on March 24, 2022, now with a modern and impressive new look. The station features elegant, clean, and comfortable facilities, including an air-conditioned waiting area, a prayer room, and a spacious parking area. Its return marks the revival of transportation in East Priangan. Today, the Garut Cibatuan Train and the Garut Commuter Line connect Garut to Bandung daily — bringing renewed energy and new hope for the people of Garut.
