Supreme Court Quashes High Court ruling against Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru…Ga Mantse

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, filed a certiorari application at the Supreme Court to challenge a High Court ruling from November 2021, which ordered the National House of Chiefs to restore Nii Tackie Adama Latse II’s name to the National Register of Chiefs as Ga Mantse. The Court of Appeal upheld this ruling on June 12, 2025, prompting Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II to seek Supreme Court intervention to quash both the High Court and Court of Appeal decisions. His legal team, led by Professor Peter A. Atupare, argued that the High Court violated natural justice by not giving Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II notice or a hearing, and that the courts lacked jurisdiction over chieftaincy matters, which are reserved for the Judicial Committees of Traditional Councils and Houses of Chiefs.
