Дмитро Ярош показав тренувальну базу Української добровольчої армії
The training base of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army is located in the village of Velykymykhaylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Here, volunteers study, train, practice military skills, and live. People's Deputy Dmytro Yarosh showed Gazeta.ua where soldiers prepare for battle. The base is located on the territory of the 5th Volunteer Battalion of the UDA. Its commander, Vladyslav Lytvyn, accompanies him during the visit. The training center was officially opened in February of this year. Up to a hundred soldiers are currently training here. The facility is designed for 300 fighters. Repair work is still ongoing in the buildings. This was the territory of an abandoned children's camp. The first volunteers arrived here in the spring of 2014 with the beginning of hostilities in Donbas. The territory has barracks, training facilities, an armory, a maintenance station, a sewing shop, a canteen, and a medical unit. Nearby is a shooting range. There is a chapel on the territory, which was built by volunteers. "We moved here in April 2014. We didn't think so big then. Over time, we saw that there was a huge shortage of trained people. Whatever the specialists: sappers, snipers, operators. Now the fifth battalion, in my deep conviction, and military commanders say so, is one of the best units in terms of the professional qualities of our fighters and commanders. It took almost three years," says Dmytro Yarosh. Ukraine has not yet adopted a law on a volunteer army. Volunteers help finance the training center. "Everyone helps. The volunteer army as a system against external threats is a real prospect. A reliable shield when the enemy comes and they can shoot in the back from every window. This is the most reliable protection of the state. We do not get involved in political conflicts within the country. We have a specific task - to protect the state and territorial integrity from an external enemy. We do all this without a single penny of state money," the leader of the nationalists continues.
