BHEKELI PO:RAG GUMRAG SOMAN

PORAG It is one of the biggest socio-religious festivals of the Mising Tribes of Assam. A MORUNG house is necessary for performing this festival. The host invites the youth organization from a neighboring village to participate in every aspect of the festival. A priest known as MIBU is invited who conducts to SEDI: MCLO, DO: NYI-POLO etc. At least 6-8 pigs are sacrificed in the name of different deities in the festival. The MIBU, at night sings A: BANG leading the dancing youth forming in a circle. The festival runs for three days.
