On the evening of July 25, 2026, the Rostov Region was hit by a strong storm front, accompanied by heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. The severe weather caused widespread disruptions to the region's energy sector. In total, partial power outages were reported in 15 cities and districts of the region. This resulted in temporary shutdowns of water supplies and disruptions to rail transport schedules. According to official reports, the storm affected the central, western, and southern parts of the Rostov Region. Power outages affected seven major cities in the region, including the administrative center of Rostov-on-Don, as well as Azov, Bataysk, Taganrog, Shakhty, Novocherkassk, and Novoshakhtinsk. Simultaneously, emergency power outages occurred in rural areas. Localized damage to power lines was recorded within the boundaries of eight districts: Azovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Matveyevo-Kurgansky, Neklinovsky, Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky, Tarasovsky, Ust-Donetsky, and Myasnikovsky.
