This Painting Is Actually Insane

In the middle of the night, deep within a forest, a group of nymphs dances around a fire while Pan, the god of wild nature, plays his flute from the shadows. This painting was created around 1920 by Joseph Tomanek, an artist almost nobody knows. And unlike the thousands of mythological nudes that filled the museums of the nineteenth century, this work hides something completely different. This is not a sensual scene disguised as mythology. It is a ritual, deeply rooted in occultism, paganism, and the mysticism of the early twentieth century.
