Gender equality in the workplace remains a challenge for the port sector. Both on land and at sea, women hold only about 20% of the total workforce, both in Spain and in the rest of Europe and the world. The Balearic Islands Port Authority is giving a voice to women who have already taken the helm in historically male-dominated professions, from stevedores to captains and naval engineers. Their first-hand accounts highlight female talent and aim to address the gender gap by providing role models, demonstrating to girls that their career paths also lie at sea.
