Fr. Thomas Keating discusses relating to God by drawing on the human experience of a developing relationship. Just as a human relationship moves from acquaintanceship to a greater sense of friendliness, a relationship with God often begins with vocal prayers and then deepens through such prayer practices as Lectio Divina. Once a level of trust is established and a person has a sense of being loved, the relationship can move to the more committed level of friendship. This is one video in a series of 31 hour-long talks by Thomas Keating that make up his foundational video teachings, “The Spiritual Journey with Fr.
