LGF 69: Aweoweo Everywhere! 🎣

FEATURED LOCATION: Kane'ohe Bay, O'ahu, Hawai'i. FEATURED SPECIES: Glasseye ('Aweoweo). Very infrequently, once maybe every 30 years, the island shorelines in Hawaii experience a phenomenon: Huge schools of juvenile 'Aweoweo (Alalauwa) appear out of nowhere. This "bloom" of fish has Hawaiian superstitions surrounding it. Natural disasters and deaths of prominent Hawaiians have been said to occur when these events arrive. When these fish begin to arrive, the species are still small in size. But they are everywhere at night, with their big glass-like eyes reflecting sources of light!
