Today, we are trying out the new Neve 5057 Orbit! This is a 16 channel summing mixer that brings the legendary Rupert Neve sound to your DAW-based studio. It contains Rupert Neve's revered Class A circuits, custom audio transformers, and Silk Red and Blue circuitry for variable harmonic saturation. With this 5057, you will have amazing flexibility in your setup, and can bring authoritative weight, warmth, punch, depth, and clarity to your in-the-box mixes. The 5057 is a great way to get an analog sound, without having to drop tons and money on a huge console. This will essentially give you the sound of the Neve 5088 or 5060, because it contains the same architecture as those products, but it is a fraction of the cost. With the 5057, you can get that iconic Neve sound, without sacrificing the automated convenience of your DAW, or breaking the bank. What we are going to do today, is take a mix that we did through my old Cadac console which has almost zero plugins on it, and we will mix through the summing of a console. We will emulate it over 16 outputs through the Rupert Neve 5057, and we are also going to bounce it internally. Then we will compare the two!
