In this video we take a whole new approach to understanding and mastering the sounds of letters of the Igbo language alphabet matching them to their closest sound in English. I also make a distinction between the names of the letters and the actual sounds they make in a word. Well the simple answer is no. You don't have to know the letters of the Igbo alphabet in order to speak the Igbo language. A good percent of native speakers do not know how to say the letters of the Igbo alphabet. Many won't even recognize them if you showed it to them. However, it is worthy to mention that knowing the letters of the Igbo Alphabet will increase your speed at mastering the Igbo language and to sound like a native speaker when you do.
