Crisp, Carl B-17 Radio Operator

B-17 airman stationed in England during WWII with the 390th Bomb Group describing his training and missions He was assigned to be the radio operator for crew #47, 569th squadron. Excellent description of the radio operator position - eg. responsible for dislodging bombs that were hung up in the bomb bay. By the end of his tour in Europe, Crisp had flown 35 missions. He was present when victory was declared in Europe. Crisp returned to the United States on the Queen Elizabeth.
